Call for papers – International Research Conference on the Prospects for Integrated Development of the North and East of Sri Lanka (InReNE)
The Federation of Global Tamils (FGT) is pleased to inform that the International Research Conference on the Prospects for Integrated Development of the North and East of Sri Lanka – 2025 will be held at the University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus in the Greater Toronto Area during October 10 – 12th, 2025. The conference participation will be both online and in-person presentations.
The organizing committee welcomes submissions in all topics which represent any aspects of the livelihood and economy of the North and East of Sri Lanka. The topics of the conference in relation to the North and East of Sri Lanka include, but not limited to:
- Sustainability and the Efficient Use of Natural Resources
- Digital Transformation and ICT for Development
- Climate Change and its Effect on the Economy
- Education for a Better Workforce and Creation of Employment
- Youth Migration Aspirations and Local Employment Solutions
- Gender Empowerment and Social Inclusion
- Modernising the Agriculture Sector
- Modernising the Fishing Industry
- Sustainable Tourism and Employment Opportunities
- Electrification and Renewable Energy
- Improving the Health and Housing of the People
- Foreign Direct Investment: Special Focus on Contribution of the Tamil Diaspora
- Challenges in Resettlement and Relocation of IDPs
- Challenges in Post-war Economic Recovery
- Challenges in Maintaining the Tamil culture
Registration Deadline for Participants
Early bird registration: September 19, 2025
$50 Standard Registration (Regular $75)
$20 Students and Seniors (Regular $25)
Lunch and refreshments are included in the registration fee. On request, limited number of fee waivers available.
All those interested in presenting a paper at the conference are requested to submit a 2- page (A4) factual abstract, based on their research methodology and their research findings, to the Conference Program Committee at cpc2025@tamilfederation.org before August 25,2025
The abstracts can be in Tamil, English or bilingual (Tamil and English) but all abstracts must be written using Unicode encoding or Tamil All Character Encoding (TACE).
Submission of an abstract implies that at least one author of the paper will attend the conference to present the work in person. Proxy or remote presentation is not permitted
Authors of papers accepted for presentation will be informed on or before September 4, 2025. Authors of the accepted Abstracts should submit their full papers, not less than 4 pages long and not exceeding 6 pages long, on or before September 19, 2025.
The Conference Proceedings will be published in printed paper format and as an e-book. Arrangements are being made to have the Conference Proceedings of the annual International Research Conferences published with an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number). ISSN will permit routine indexation of the Conference Proceedings in bibliographic databases of all leading libraries across the globe and proper referencing of the content of the Proceedings in academic journal publications.
